 Selection and Recruitment Process

If you decide to apply for a position as an Aviation Security Officer you can expect to go through the following process: -

  • Initial application and vetting assessment
  • Short listed applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre Seminar which includes a video presentation, and a number of suitability tests.
  • Panel Interview (of not less than three interviewers)
  • Background Check (Referee, criminal and security checks)
  • Civil Aviation Authority approved medical examination

(Note: You must meet the requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority Medical Standards, which include a comprehensive medical examination, as well as eye and hearing tests, an ECG, a chest x-ray and a urine drug test.)

Getting Started with Avsec

Training:  If you have successfully passed the recruitment process you will undergo a training programme which includes:

Two day Introduction (Limited Duties Course)

Up to eight weeks working at an airport doing Limited Duties

  • Eleven days classroom training including three law exams, for which at the third exam you must get 80% or more to be formally appointed. (Appointment is provisional until you have successfully completed the Basic Training Course.)
  • Three weeks of specific On the Job Training, working alongside an experienced officer. You will also be required to obtain an airside drivers permit (for driving on the runway and surrounding areas).

Once you have joined Avsec, you will be expected to honour Avsec’s Code of Conduct.
